Column Survey, Western Pennsylvania
June 1, 2015Our client had purchased new equipment which they intended to install in their industrial facility. The building’s roof was a truss system supported by a grid of steel columns, each one extending from the concrete floor to the truss.
Fitting the new equipment between columns required exact measurement positioning of each column. The client needed to know the vertical clearance of each column from the floor to the truss system as well as the horizontal location on the floor.
Using his total station with on board reflectorless measurement technology, our surveyor, Scott Calton, PLS, made the necessary precise and accurate measurements that would allow the new equipment to fit perfectly. He then used those same measurements to produce a CAD drawing showing the exact dimensions his measurements produced. The client then used the drawing to help fit the equipment.
Job well done Scott!
